Google Is Not Listing My Sitemap Properly

This question happens frequently
In order to have your sitemap listed in Google Webmaster Tools this is how you should list it,

/feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated  just copy and paste this into your sitemap for the blog you wish to be listed.  Because it could be a blogger blog, they will only accept a rss feed.  You still should get a feedburner account but that's not what webmaster tools is looking for.  "Google Is Not Listing My Sitemap Properly"

 

Having a sitemap is probably the most important thing to have on blogspot.  This tells Google what you have as far as new content goes.  Now it will only ping google sites, so as we all know the more relevant content you have the better off you are.  Pinging a blog is the 2nd most important thing to do!  This tells other search engines that you have something new to share on your site.  You should NOT ping your site more then once every 3 days or so.  If you start to ping your blog more then that, it's considered spam in many eyes.  You have a pretty good chance your site may not ever get seen by doing this.  Pingler is a site that will do this automatically for you, and I recommend them.  They will even send you a report on where your pings were delivered.  People don't take this serious enough, it should be a priority when it comes to blogging.  If you own a amazon affiliate site that is updated through amazon, then this is really a priority! 

 

A sitemap is something that tells you and search engines what your site has, if you look closely to some other sites you have visited some will list a sitemap link on the front page.  This should never be done, it's telling Google to crawl your site again and again thus meaning spam in many cases.  Once every three days is fine. 

 

People sometimes overdue it, owning a blog can be very rewarding if you know how to manage it.  Writing content is a key, never copy and paste articles anywhere.  Eventually it will catch up to your blog.  I've seen autoblogs out there and many are for sale on flippa.  This is the worst type of blog you can have, because it's copied content.  You won't be seen, and if you are seen within the search engines, there are probably hundreds of websites ahead of you.  Page rank means a lot so copied content is not good, now I know you might be a lazy blogger not posting everyday.  That's fine, you don't have to post everyday.  As long as your adding content once in a while that's all you have to do.  The net is full of so called SEO specialists, what I've come to find out is that many have a software to either build you links, or add your links to forum signatures.  Stay away from these, that's why the Panda update came out in the 1st place.  You of course want your blog as close to the 1st page for a certain keyword phrase.  Once your blog is aged, it will automatically get there without any help from these seo people.  Be smart, write about what you know.  Don't copy others and you will be fine.
